Chuck brings years of Washington expertise to our clients. He has long been prominent in the Democratic Party and is a familiar figure on the campaign trail, having advised or managed Presidential and Congressional campaigns, state party conventions and platform committee hearings. Chuck has led variety of successful public relations campaigns in every sector, and most notably was part of the team that won the Public Relations Society of America Silver Anvil Award for their issues management work on behalf of Cox Communications. 

Prior to joining Weber Merritt, Chuck served as the vice-chairman of the Presidential-appointed United States Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy. This seven-member commission is a bipartisan panel established by the Congress to advise the President, the Secretary of State, and the Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs on press and information activities of U.S. missions abroad, and the government’s international radio and television operations. He currently serves on the Executive Advisory Committee for the Pamela Harriman Foreign Service Fellowships at the College of William and Mary.

Chuck advised the Presidency of the G-8 Summit in St. Petersburg Russia. He was also a senior communications consultant for the Kerry-Edwards Campaign, state chairman of the Virginia Clinton-Gore Campaigns in 1992 and 1996, and a member of President Clinton’s initial Presidential Exploratory Committee. Prior to that, he was executive director of the Democratic Governors’ Association, where he participated in the election and re-election of Democratic governors in all fifty states.

Chuck has long been involved in legislative advocacy, grassroots and strategic communications, both as a senior lobbyist at Cassidy and Associates and a Senior Vice President at Ketchum Communications. Earlier in his career, Chuck served as a special assistant to the American Ambassador at the U.S. Embassy in Ireland and a Legislative Assistant in the U.S. Congress with responsibility for the Appropriations Subcommittees on Justice, Commerce and Foreign Operations.

Chuck is a graduate of Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government where he received an M.P.A. in Government and Business.
